About the Role

KTBC FOX 7 Austin is seeking a dynamic Chief Photographer to lead, inspire, and manage our team of visual storytellers. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in small to medium-sized news markets, with a focus on compelling storytelling for digital platforms and a proven track record of supervising, mentoring, and directing photographers. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, possess a strong eye for photography and visual storytelling, and demonstrate a passion for television news. As a leader, you will manage gear inventory, daily field assignments, and ensure the highest technical and creative standards. You will also lead field logistics and safety protocols during high-impact weather events.

Requirements

A minimum of 5 years of experience in small to medium-sized news markets is required
Resume and reel should reflect a daily focus on compelling storytelling for digital platforms
Proven track record of supervising, mentoring, and directing station photographers to elevate visual standards
Must be highly organized
Must possess a strong eye for photography and visual storytelling in the news business
Must demonstrate a genuine passion for television news
Newsroom staff must be available to work on-site or in the field when scheduled
Must be able to travel for out-of-town assignments
Must have a valid driver's license
Position requires walking, standing, and bending
Ability to work outside in inclement weather
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs to safely handle standard television news equipment, tripods, and gear
