About the Role

HDR is seeking dynamic and eager-to-learn engineering students for a four-month placement at our downtown Toronto office. This role offers real-world experience on exciting projects, working on a large variety of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) projects for different building structures. The student will gain exposure to all aspects of the building engineering industry while being supported by a dedicated CFD team and subject matter experts.

Responsibilities

  • Offer real-world experience on exciting projects
  • Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager
  • Conduct supervised design calculations and element design, focusing on documenting CFD assumptions and methodology, reporting final results, creating CAD models, and assisting in setting up numerical models for various CFD projects
  • Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

  • Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry e.g. ANSYS Fluent, CFX, COMSOL Multiphysics, Star CCM+
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Independent learner who is capable of quickly learning new skills
  • Successful working in a team environment
  • Keen observer with a strong attention to detail
  • Skilled in using CAD software's such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam Revu
  • Knowledge of engineering principles associated with CFD
  • Past experience working with an Engineering firm
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Attention to detail
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
