About the Role
Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Seniors Program Worker to coordinate and facilitate fitness, health, and wellness programming for newcomer and immigrant seniors. This role focuses on delivering workshops, supporting research, conducting evaluations, and integrating seniors into community programs to improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations.
Responsibilities
- Lead fitness classes and health education workshops at various sites
- Coordinate and lead seniors' events, gatherings, and field trips
- Conduct outreach to integrate newcomer seniors into programs
- Develop formal and informal partnerships with other agencies
- Recruit, orient, train, and direct volunteers, peers, and students
- Participate in and support research on health and community needs
- Contribute to program planning, community activities, and capacity building
- Support initiatives with educational institutions
- Plan and evaluate groups, workshops, and events
- Participate in Centre working groups and projects
- Submit program statistics and reports on a timely basis
- Support the development of funding proposals
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Health Sciences, Human Kinetics/Kinesiology, Physical Education, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Recent, valid CPR and First Aid Certificates
- Minimum 1 year of experience running fitness classes
- Minimum 3 years of front-line experience in community-based outreach and group facilitation
- Ability to travel within Toronto
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
- Must pass a criminal background check (Vulnerable Sector)
