About the Role

As a Fire Safety Officer, you will take action to prevent, prepare, respond, and recover from site-related emergencies. You will undertake fire safety activities, including inspection and providing advice on fire and safety matters, as part of the Emergency Planning & Response Group.

Responsibilities

• Undertake fire safety activities including inspection and provision of advice on fire and safety related matters.
• Prevent, prepare, respond, and recover from site-related emergencies.
• Develop solutions and resolve problems to achieve compliance with legislation, codes, and standards.
• Liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels to gain compliance and develop constructive solutions.
• Brief and train stakeholders.
• Conduct efficient first response operations.
• Coordinate people effectively in emergencies.
• Respond to emergency situations.
• Undertake building inspections.

Requirements

• Experience and skill in fire prevention/protection.
• Demonstrated expertise in the use of fire fighting and safety equipment.
• Demonstrated technical ability to monitor safety, fire detection, emergency warning, suppression systems and equipment.
• Recognised training and qualifications or equivalent in providing First Aid (or higher).
• Demonstrated ability to undertake Advanced Resuscitation.
• Qualifications and/or experience in delivery training to small groups and Work Health and Safety (WHS).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work as a team.
• Ability to interpret complex situations.
• Ability to provide effective service with 24-hour coverage.
• Practical experience in responding to emergency situations.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Existing Australian work rights.
• Satisfactory National Police Check.
• Satisfactory Pre-Employment Health Assessment.

Salary/Compensations

• Full Time: Base wage of $36.74 per hour plus 28.7% Composite Penalty and 12% Superannuation Contributions
• Casual: Base wage of $36.74 per hour plus 23.3% Casual Loading, 12.5% Scale Penalty and 12% Superannuation Contributions
