About the Role

The Housing Ambassador provides for the health, safety, and well-being of Home Free residents during overnight, swing, and occasional weekend/holiday shifts. This role is essential for creating a safe and supportive community for participants, intervening in emergencies, and ensuring residents are safe and secure.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety, security, and well-being of participants and the complex during after-hours shifts.
• Respond to emergencies or participant needs after hours and contact the Program Manager when necessary.
• Assess and respond to immediate participant needs, requests, and/or complaints in a timely, effective, and respectful manner.
• Maintain congenial relationships with participants, being sensitive to cultural backgrounds and special needs.
• Adhere to Fair Housing and Equal Housing Opportunity requirements.
• Respect and follow house rules, informing the Program Manager of any concerns or violations.
• Monitor the facility and participants after business hours.
• Interact with residents while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Enter information into the log upon arrival and at the end of the shift.
• De-escalate potential client conflicts.
• Inspect facilities to maintain security and program compliance.
• Answer phones, take messages, and attend to requests for information professionally.
• Complete and submit maintenance requests regarding equipment failures and needed repairs.
• Respond to all participant requests and questions professionally and courteously.
• Immediately report any problems to the Program Director according to policy.
• Manage site-specific emergencies or crises under the direction of the Program Director.
• Provide crisis intervention taking direction from the Program Director.
• Attend and participate in daily shift change meetings, communicating all issues and concerns to the next shift staff.
• Ensure paperwork is complete and the workspace is cleaned and organized at the end of every shift.
• Encourage participants to engage in groups, activities, and services.
• Occasionally facilitate groups, workshops, and client meetings.
• Commit to attending all staff meetings and trainings, even if outside regular work hours.
• Participate in all applicable staff trainings and staff meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must wear provided PPE and adhere to all safety guidelines and requirements when needed.
• Must be female.
• Submitting proof of clear TB results (dated within 60 days prior to hire date) is required.
• Must be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Must be sensitive to a diverse participant and staff population.

Experience Level

• Prior paid experience working with homeless populations that use harm-reduction models.
• Prior work with people dealing with mental health, disabilities, or substance abuse issues is preferred.

• $22.00 - $22.00 Hourly
