About the Role

The Glen Oaks Club, a premier club in Long Island, NY, is seeking a Part-Time Porter with Weekend Availability. The club is known for providing its members an exceptional and personalized experience and has been evolving for nearly 100 years to maintain its stature as a home away from home for their member families.

Responsibilities

• Perform light cleaning duties to maintain the club in a clean and orderly manner.
• Clean rooms, halls, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas to meet health standards.
• Empty wastebaskets, clean ashtrays, and transport trash and waste to disposal areas.
• Replenish supplies such as drinking glasses, linens, writing supplies, and bathroom items.
• Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
• Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
• Sweep, scrub, wax, or polish floors using brooms, mops, or powered equipment.
• Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as necessary.
• Move tables, chairs, and other furniture to assist with event setup.
• Carry linens, towels, toilet items, and cleaning supplies, using wheeled carts.

Requirements

• Requires excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with all necessary cleaning products.
• Ability to prepare reports.
• Ability to verbally communicate well in English and in writing.
• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.
• Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers, and members.
• Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
• High school diploma or GED.
• 1-3 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
• Specific hearing abilities required include wearing a surveillance earpiece headset connected to radio.
• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
• Frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
