About the Role

Provide group benefits consulting support, including design and financial management for existing medium and large clients and prospects. Work closely with internal consulting teams, interface with vendors, support client deliverables, and ensure quality standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the overall design and management of group medical, dental, life, disability and special risk benefits for clients.
  • Perform annual renewal analysis and negotiations with carriers.
  • Prepare client reports and presentations.
  • Conduct experience reporting, budget projections, and review plan financial performance.
  • Review financial statements for accuracy and adherence to underwriting agreements.
  • Gather data and determine cost impact for plan design changes.
  • Manage marketings, including preparing and submitting specifications, analyzing cost comparisons, and making recommendations.
  • Support the consulting team in preparing documents for client presentations and meetings.
  • Participate in industry conferences and seminars to stay abreast of industry trends.
  • Build relationships with clients, carriers, and internal, cross-functional teams.
  • Assist with plan design benchmarking studies.
  • Assist clients during the union bargaining process.
  • Support carrier transitions by providing required financial information to the service team.
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting for clients or consultants as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in group benefits.
  • Knowledge of Canadian benefits industry and group benefits financial underwriting requirements for all types of employee benefits plans.
  • Advanced competency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize competing demands to meet client and company needs.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sensitivity to confidential information.
