About the Role
HOK New York is seeking a Senior Project Architect for its dynamic Healthcare practice. This role involves managing projects from conception to completion, ensuring alignment with client visions and industry best practices. The individual will be accountable for project financial performance, team communication, and the issuance and content of deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring the overall design intent is incorporated into detailed documentation.
- Monitoring the design process from conceptual phase through construction administration.
- Providing technical resolution and coordination for a defined portion of a project.
- Developing specifications in collaboration with the Specification Writer and coordinating drawings and specifications.
- Checking completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations for accuracy.
- Setting the overall strategy for producing documents and defining data organization within a BIM environment.
- Setting up project team software parameters and managing standards.
- Fostering collaborative professional working relationships with the Project Leadership Team.
- Communicating with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements.
- Ensuring construction detail documentation conforms to quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standards.
- Supervising the preparation of technical drawings by less senior architects or technicians.
- Acting as team leader on certain projects.
- Mentoring and directing the work of less experienced staff, participating in professional development reviews and “Lessons Learned” sessions.
- Taking personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
- Fostering a commitment to external and internal client service.
- Developing a positive relationship of trust with client leadership.
- Communicating regularly with client representatives to verify design requirements, progress, and final presentation delivery.
- Coordinating the use and tracking of shared electronic documentation and files with project teams, clients, and consultants.
- Assisting in planning and conducting work, making minor adaptations and modifications to working drawing sets.
- Meeting with municipal building department and other governing agency officials to coordinate approvals or variances.
- Writing reports and memos to consultants and vendors to issue changes and track resolutions.
- Providing technical support and project communications to the team as required.
- Attending on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings.
- Coordinating the review of contractor’s schedules and submission of shop drawings and samples.
- Assisting the Specification Writer in product research, consulting with manufacturers, and evaluating/selecting project-related materials.
- Involvement with specification set-up and drawing coordination, research, and appropriate use of HOK Standards.
- Providing support to all team members for specific market, discipline, or other areas of expertise.
- Participating in team meetings to help resolve project issues, coordination with other disciplines, schedule adherence, and technical issues.
- Participating in the review of project costs and budgets, and adherence to schedule.
- Preparing meeting minutes of consultant coordination meetings.
- Preparing 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings and building models for client/project team review.
- Incorporating Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
- Participating in business development meetings with team leaders to target specified project, client, or market opportunities.
Requirements
- Application must include both resume and portfolio (or portfolio link).
- Licensed architect with current registration in your region required.
- NCARB registration preferred.
- LEED accreditation or Green Associate preferred.

- Master’s degree preferred.
Salary/Compensations
- $160,000 to $180,000
- Other compensation may include a discretionary bonus.
