About the Role
IMEG is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of healthcare-focused mechanical systems, including HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection, in their new Manhattan office. This role involves client and team collaboration to create code-compliant, high-performing, safe, efficient, and resilient facilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design of healthcare mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) from concept through construction.
- Serve as a technical leader for project execution, coordination, and delivery across internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve clashes, improve constructability, and support integrated design outcomes.
- Support client communication and technical decision-making throughout project development.
- Guide quality control efforts and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and IMEG practices.
- Provide construction administration support, including responses to RFIs/submittals and field observations as needed.
- Mentor and support the growth of engineering staff through technical guidance and project leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 14+ years of experience
- Mastery of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications.
- Mastery of technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills.
- Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise.
- Ability to sell work and develop client relationships.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Eagerness to adapt to new challenges.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to travel up to 25% with occasional overnight stays.
