About the Role

The Student Support Counselor will support middle school students' academic, social-emotional, and behavioral growth. This role involves planning and leading skill-building groups, providing case management and behavioral health interventions, and coordinating programming to foster a positive school culture and readiness for future endeavors.

Responsibilities

• Develop Crew curriculum to support student community building and social-emotional learning.
• Lead skill-building groups focused on emotional regulation, communication, mindfulness, and de-escalation.
• Provide individual counseling interventions and crisis interventions in collaboration with the School Counselor.
• Offer individual case management support for students with 504 plans.
• Develop and implement individual academic, attendance, or behavioral interventions.
• Track intervention progress and analyze patterns to inform proactive support.
• Partner with families to address concerns and maintain communication regarding interventions.
• Support student-family linkages with outside programs and resources.
• Implement schoolwide PBIS systems and opportunities for student voice and agency.
• Coordinate grade-level events and culture-building activities.
• Promote College and Career exploration through program coordination.
• Support students with middle-to-high school transition planning.
• Assist students in setting and monitoring academic and behavioral goals.
• Facilitate restorative conferences, mediation, and circles.
• Maintain accurate student records, track progress, and prepare reports.
• Assist in developing policies and programs that promote a positive school culture.
• Supervise students during key times to ensure campus safety.

• At least 2-3 years of experience working with middle schoolers in an urban school preferred.
