About the Role

Support the London and South region in implementing and maintaining an industry-leading and compliant Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental management system. This role involves supporting operational teams, collaborating with the Farringdon office, and providing occasional travel to the Hailsham facility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Health and Safety leadership and guidance to ensure the 'Safety First and Foremost' message is visible and active throughout regional activities.
  • Support personnel in understanding their SHE Policy duties and addressing SHE concerns.
  • Ensure proactive and reactive inspections of assigned workplaces are conducted regularly, ensuring compliance with the Company SHE Policy/Procedures.
  • Make recommendations to employees and the Supply Chain to correct and improve SHE performance, ensuring effective implementation of actions.
  • Monitor and report on project SHE performance, supporting the DHSM in producing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on Group and Divisional SHE performance.
  • Undertake investigations as directed by the DHSM and report in line with the 2-2-2 process.
  • Review SHE-related accidents/incidents and ensure appropriate investigation levels.
  • Support the application of the Health and Safety Management System and interface with Project Site based SHE Advisors, arranging regular meetings for information cascading.
  • Support the development of processes and solutions for known SHE problems/concerns, reporting innovation to the DHSM for regional consistency.
  • Ensure campaigns are implemented as necessary to improve performance.
  • Support Supply Chain SHE performance reviews and ensure SHE alerts and knowledge shares are communicated to the NGB supply chain.
  • Support work-winning bid teams in bid submissions and completion of pre-qualification questionnaires, ensuring SHE information accuracy.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar role within the Construction, Engineering, or Manufacturing industry.
  • Full, clean driving licence is essential.
  • Experience in managing teams and supporting management on a national or regional scale is desirable.
  • Desirable to currently have security clearance for the strategic regulatory sector or be able to obtain it.

Skills

  • Good knowledge of SHE legislation.
  • Understanding of Industry Leading ‘Best Practice’ and/or recognised standards within the relevant sector.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety (OHSAS 45001).
