About the Role

This is a fixed-term position until April 2027, providing legal advice and support to Disney Consumer Products (DCP) EMEA across merchandise licensing, publishing, retail, and e-commerce. You will draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including licenses and distribution agreements, and offer general commercial advice, including competition law. The role covers all franchises within the DCP EMEA remit and operates within Disney's core values of Integrity, Inclusion, Creativity, Collaboration, and Community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuing support to the CMC for drafting and negotiation of merchandise and publishing license agreements throughout EMEA.
  • Offer general legal advice on commercial and competition law issues related to merchandise, publishing, retail, and e-commerce businesses.
  • Provide general legal support on new business models and retail matters, including global supply chain management, direct sourcing, intellectual property, and consumer law.
  • Advise on legal issues related to intellectual property licensing, including reviewing style guides and licensee materials.
  • Offer ad hoc support to DCP Communications, ILS, and PI for DCP matters, promotions, and retail activations.
  • Provide legal support on general corporate matters impacting the DCP business, such as tax legislation and corporate governance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience negotiating and drafting contracts from a law firm advising major corporate clients or a corporate legal department.
  • English law qualification.
  • Knowledge of competition law.
  • Understanding of different contractual types and structures.
  • Understanding of digital distribution issues for apps, e-commerce, and e-publishing products.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Methodical and meticulous approach.
  • Accurate completion of license agreements within agreed timelines.
  • Ability to communicate legal matters to a non-legal audience.
