About the Role

Lightspeed is seeking a Senior Data Strategist to drive innovative, high-value data initiatives. This role focuses on the end-to-end data lifecycle, including transformation, analytics, and data science, with an emphasis on proof-of-concept projects to inform the larger data strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end data projects across multiple areas of the organization, focusing on high-potential impact proof-of-concept projects.
  • Manage the full data lifecycle from discovery and hypothesis development to data exploration, modeling, implementation, and impact measurement.
  • Identify and pursue data projects with high potential value by understanding business areas.
  • Solve complex technical problems using proof-of-concept and exploratory solutions.
  • Design and execute A/B tests and other experimental frameworks, including statistical analysis and causal inference.
  • Measure project impact using thoughtful and creative techniques.
  • Ensure clear communication and alignment with key stakeholders through compelling data narratives and visualizations.
  • Lead the development and adoption of analytics standards and methodologies.
  • Develop a deep understanding of business processes, systems, and data architecture.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the Data Strategy Team by enhancing data processes, systems, and quality.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with data professionals across the organization.
  • Demonstrate professional empathy by understanding stakeholder needs and building relationships across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Identify and prioritize strategic group initiatives for the Data Office roadmap.
  • Collaborate with other data professionals to transition validated projects into scalable, robust solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, data strategy, data engineering, or analytics engineering.
  • Proven business acumen to align data initiatives with strategic objectives.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
  • Creative mindset and strong intellectual curiosity.
  • Expertise in statistical and predictive modeling, data mining, and advanced analytics techniques.
  • Advanced SQL skills for querying and managing relational databases.
  • Expert-level proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, or Power BI).
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Google Cloud, Azure, or AWS).
  • Understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data pipeline development.
  • Familiarity with modern data transformation tools such as dbt or Dataform.
  • Experience with version control, collaboration, and workflow management (e.g., Github).
  • Excellent communication skills, including teamwork, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple high-impact projects.
  • Disclosure of criminal convictions and willingness to undergo criminal record checks.
