About the Role

As a Registered Mental Health Nurse at K&W Healthcare Ltd, you will play a pivotal role within a multi-disciplinary team in assessing, planning, and delivering individualized care to patients with diverse mental health conditions. Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure the highest standards of care are maintained, promoting recovery and enhancing the quality of life for our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake holistic assessments of patient’s health needs using an evidence-based framework and be able to assess and use sound clinical knowledge.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with patients and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Monitor therapeutic response to prescribed medications and monitor their effectiveness, adhering to prescribed protocols.
  • Complete mental health assessments and deliver evidence-based interventions in community settings.
  • Provide support and education to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions and treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, contributing to care planning and service development.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant policies, procedures, and legislation, including the Mental Health Act.
  • Promote best practice, clinical supervision, and evidence-based care in a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of patient information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and information governance rules.
  • Act in a way that recognizes the importance of people’s rights and interprets them in line with company procedures, policies, and current legislation.
  • Respect the privacy, dignity, needs, and beliefs of patients and colleagues.
  • Behave in a manner that is welcoming, non-judgmental, and respects individual circumstances, feelings, priorities, and rights.
  • Ensure agreed procedures are carried out to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974).
  • Promote the health, safety, and security of yourself and others, including patients and their carers.
  • Use personal security systems within the workplace according to company guidelines.
  • Identify risks involved in work activities and manage these risks.
  • Utilize training to update skills and knowledge.
  • Use appropriate infection-control procedures and maintain work areas in a tidy and safe manner, free from hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures in the workplace and on home visits.
  • Report any potential risks as they are identified.
  • Work within the framework of the company's strict No Smoking Policy.
  • Work within the limits of your own competence and areas of accountability.
  • Seek help and advice when needed.
  • Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk.
  • Assess your own performance and take accountability for your actions.
  • Contribute to team effectiveness by reflecting on activities and suggesting improvements.
  • Work effectively with individuals in other provider organizations to meet patients’ needs.
  • Prioritize your own workload and manage your time to ensure priorities are met and quality is not compromised.
  • Develop flexible working practices to meet the challenges and opportunities of the evolving healthcare landscape.

Requirements

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) qualification with a valid NMC registration.
  • Minimum of 2-year post-registration experience in a mental health setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of current mental health legislation and best practices.
