About the Role
Kraken is seeking a Design Lead for Kraken Customer to shape user experiences for millions of people and thousands of operators, ensuring they are coherent, intuitive, and aligned with the Kraken brand. This role involves leading a team of UX/UI designers and owning the evolution of customer-facing experiences, balancing strategic initiatives with client and operational needs while maintaining product quality and inclusivity.
Responsibilities
- Lead design across Communications, Customer Lifecycles, Financials & Commercials, and Frontend platform experiences.
- Ensure the entire ecosystem makes sense across end customers, enterprise users, and operational teams.
- Partner with the Frontend Engineering team to build foundational elements that increase team velocity.
- Strengthen Kraken’s design system by increasing reuse across product lines.
- Embed accessibility from the start of the design process.
- Reduce fragmentation and improve governance without slowing down teams.
- Sharpen rituals and critique culture, documentation standards, and collaboration patterns with Product & Engineering.
- Lead and mentor a group of UX/UI designers, fostering their growth and improving design judgment across teams.
- Establish clear quality standards for design.
Requirements
- Significant experience leading design across complex, multi-domain SaaS products.
- Immersed but pragmatic use of AI to accelerate research, prototyping, and design with modern design tools and workflows (Figma is the primary design tool).
- Proficiency in human-centered design processes, knowing when to go deep versus move fast.
- Proven design systems experience in live, scaled environments, including governance, adoption, and developer collaboration.
- Experience embedding accessibility-first design in production environments (WCAG and beyond).
- Experience operating in regulated or high-stakes domains.
- Clear evidence of developing high-performing designers.
