About the Role

Support the Sydney Light Rail operation in Lilyfield, NSW, by performing heavy overhaul maintenance on rollingstock bogies. This role is crucial for maintaining the operational backbone of the tram network, ensuring trains run safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out heavy overhaul maintenance on rolling stock bogies
• Removal and installation of bogies
• Cleaning and preparation of bogies and components
• Replacement of bearings and wheels using various specialised machines
• Rebuilding of gearboxes and traction motors
• Overhaul of braking systems
• Operate workshop equipment and tools safely and effectively

Requirements

• Ability to thrive within a dynamic, fast-paced maintenance operation
• A real team player, with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Sound understanding of mechanical systems, bearings, suspension, and braking components
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and maintenance manuals
• Experience within a similar role, ideally in heavy mechanical maintenance (preferred)
• Undergo pre-employment reference and medical checks, including drug and alcohol testing

Salary/Compensations

• Base rate of $47.46 to $49.83 per hour
• Afternoon Shift (finishing after 6pm and before midnight): +15% loading
• Night Shift (finishing after midnight up to 8am): +30% loading
• Friday: +15% before midnight, +50% after midnight
• Saturday: +50% from midnight Friday to midnight Saturday, +100% after midnight
• Sunday: +100% for hours worked up to midnight Sunday, +15% after midnight
