About the Role

This position involves consultative sales of genetic analysis instruments and consumables, focusing on the Applied Biosystems brand, to support research and development in universities, public research institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and food-related companies. You will deepen relationships with existing customers, propose solutions to new clients, and contribute to the advancement of life sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales targets in the assigned territory.
  • Propose sales of genetic analysis instruments and consumables to universities, public research institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and food-related companies.
  • Deepen relationships with existing customers, propose renewals, and additional installations.
  • Develop new customers and propose switching from competitor products.
  • Understand customer research and business challenges to propose optimal solutions.
  • Maximize sales in the assigned territory by collaborating with sales distributors.
  • Manage business negotiations, sales forecasts, and pipeline using IT tools like Salesforce.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including application specialists, marketing, and service departments.
  • Create customer touchpoints through academic conferences, exhibitions, and seminars.
  • Plan, execute, and review sales strategies in the assigned territory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • More than 3 years of sales experience in scientific instruments or reagents/consumables related to molecular biology.
  • Native-level Japanese proficiency.
  • Possession of a regular driver's license and willingness to travel for business.
  • Sense of responsibility and motivation to achieve sales targets.
  • Ability to proactively perform duties without waiting for instructions.
  • Positive attitude towards receiving feedback.
  • Ability to communicate smoothly verbally, by phone, email, and web conference with internal and external parties.
  • Basic PC skills (Outlook/Excel/PowerPoint/various systems).
