About the Role

Amentum is seeking an Industrial Electrician to join their operations & maintenance team. This role involves responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and performing preventive maintenance on facility electrical equipment in industrial, large commercial, or logistics distribution environments, including clean rooms. The position requires diagnosing and troubleshooting all electrical equipment and systems, identifying and correcting safety issues, and performing independent equipment evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs electrical equipment up to 480-volt 3 phase and facility systems such as roof top units (RTUs), doors, lighting, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and motors control circuits.
  • Utilizes the building automation system to track building conditions and the operation of facilities equipment.
  • Utilizes strong electrical and mechanical skills to complete assignments.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on industrial electrical control and operating systems as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Troubleshoots electrical components such as PLCs, AC & DC drives, relay logic, single loop controllers, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Performs predictive maintenance activities including infrared (IR) thermographic inspections of electrical distribution systems.
  • Responds and provides service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance with codes, regulations and industry standards.
  • Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.
  • Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout procedures, and wearing PPE as required.
  • Operates various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.
  • Differentiates between cause types when troubleshooting among product, process, mechanical, and electrical contributors.
  • Reads and interprets mechanical and electrical schematics/prints, updating electrical prints/schematics assigned for modification.
  • Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
  • Maintains a strict schedule while demonstrating flexibility in day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Must have the ability to work in an aerial lift or scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
  • Ability to pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and successfully complete a fit test for several types of respirators.
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
  • Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
  • Ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.
  • Ability to obtain an appropriate driver's license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as requested.

Skills

  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) or Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Knowledge of electrical system components - MCCs, inverters, motors, etc.
  • Knowledge of using Ohm’s Law, unit conversion, and other electrical related formulas.
  • Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.
  • Familiarity with facilities equipment descriptors such as HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.

Experience Level

  • Three years of experience as a maintenance electrician in an industrial environment, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six years of maintenance experience in one of the following trades demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience: Industrial HVAC/ Industrial Mechanical Machine Repair, or Automotive Repair.

Education Level

  • Licensed Master Electrician, Journeyman's License, or equivalent certification.
  • Associate’s degree in industrial electrical or a related field.
