About the Role

The Workday HCM Functional Consultant is responsible for the ongoing optimization and support of BDO’s Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) product. This role works closely with P&C to ensure the Workday platform is reliable, secure, and effectively utilized. This is an initial 7-month contract, 4 days per week, with potential for extension or permanent conversion.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day support and administration of the Workday HCM product, including Core HCM, Absence, Recruitment, Performance, and Talent Management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, incidents, and user queries ensuring minimal business disruption.
  • Support Workday business processes by monitoring, maintaining, and enhancing configurations to meet evolving business needs.
  • Participate in testing activities across releases and changes.
  • Contribute to Workday release management by assessing impact of biannual releases and supporting feature adoption where relevant.
  • Develop and maintain documentation including business process flows, configuration design, and user guidance materials.
  • Adhere to established change management processes, ensuring all system updates are appropriately documented, tested, approved, and deployed in line with governance standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working with Workday (HCM) in a delivery, optimisation or support role.
  • Strong knowledge of Workday functionality, including configuration, security, business process frameworks, and reporting (e.g. calculated fields).
  • Experience partnering with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver practical, fit-for-purpose solutions that support business outcomes.
  • The ability to take ownership of issues and enhancements by providing timely resolution.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot system issues and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Experience in eliciting, clarifying and validating business requirements.
