About the Role

Play a key role in supporting solicitors and Crown Prosecutors in NSW Criminal Matters. As a Legal Support Officer (Level 2), you will provide ODPP staff, including Solicitors, and Crown Prosecutors with high quality administrative support in the delivery of an effective and efficient prosecution service. We are looking for people with high level communication skills, sound interpersonal skills, ability to exercise sound judgement and problem solve and an ability to balance competing demands in a high volume and fast paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality legal support to ODPP staff, Crown Prosecutors and other Counsel.
  • Register and update matters; maintain files, briefs, file notes and records of proceedings; organise of court lists witnesses, exhibits, meetings, diaries and conferences.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders including police, legal practitioners, witnesses and court registry staff to obtain and provide all necessary information and assistance.
  • Provide general legal support including drafting correspondence, photocopying, records and supply management, reception work, mail delivery and photocopying.
  • Maintain digital records and systems to ensure documents are accurately collated, well organised, and securely stored in line with organisational requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience in the delivery of clerical support services including advanced word processing and data entry skills.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication skills and organisational skills.
  • Address the key accountabilities and focus capabilities when preparing your resume (maximum three pages) and cover letter (maximum two pages).
  • Cover letter must clearly and directly respond to the two targeted questions.
  • Provide contact details of two relevant referees (who can speak from a Supervisory perspective).
  • Consent to a Criminal History Record Check.
