About the Role
As an Associate, Australian Equity Research in the Small-Mid cap sector, you will conduct fundamental analysis of companies within the sector, ranging from established mid-cap businesses to emerging small-cap companies.
Responsibilities
- Build and update company financial models in Microsoft Excel.
- Understand and link core items of financial statements (profit and loss, balance sheet, cashflows) in Microsoft Excel.
- Update historical company financials and build drivers for future estimates in Microsoft Excel.
- Value companies using methods such as DCF valuation and comparable multiples analysis.
- Generate high-quality research reports and presentations.
- Build and maintain databases of key industry data points.
- Support the Lead Analyst in promptly answering institutional investor queries.
- Identify company-specific risks (operational, financial, commodity, political, macro).
- Identify relevant industry contacts to form a comprehensive view of companies and their operating environments.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields.
- Minimum 2 years of full-time work experience, preferably in equity research or corporate finance at a bank, stockbroking, investment fund, or accounting firm.
- Strong interest in equity markets and finance.
- Willingness to learn and analyze industry sectors and companies.
- Ability to discern important insights from noise.
- Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to interact with CEO, CFO, and IR personnel.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to source data and concisely summarize information from multiple sources.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize work and multitask.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- High degree of flexibility and willingness to take on challenges.
- Flexibility to travel when needed.
