About the Role
Join the Technical Operations team at United to maintain our world-class fleet. As a Machinist Technician, you will play a vital role in manufacturing and repairing parts to ensure our aircraft are ready for service.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily repairs and manufacturing of parts
- Read and interpret blueprints and ARs/RUs
- Operate precision measuring instruments to machine parts to close tolerances
- Set up and operate at least two machine tool types including grinders, lathes, milling machines, hand blending, honing, or bushing installation
- Train on all machine tools and processes within the landing gear focus repair cell
- Participate in ongoing cross-training and classroom training
- Work around-the-clock shifts including weekends and holidays
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in general machinist work
- Successful completion of a trade test
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Valid US driver's license
- Pass a 10-year background check
- Pass a pre-placement physical, skills assessment, hearing and vision tests, and drug screen
- Clear a fingerprint-based criminal history check
- Obtain necessary position-specific clearances including FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs, and U.S. Postal service
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview and assessment
- Maintain reliable and punctual attendance
