About the Role

Mary McDowell Friends School (MMFS) seeks a full-time Upper School Interim Education Technology Integrator to support students and faculty in leveraging technology to enhance the learning process. The role focuses on matching individuals with the best technologies and providing targeted instruction for content creation, aiming to enrich rather than just enable learning.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and promptly resolve student technology issues.
  • Coordinate with IT for software/hardware needs, ensuring detailed communication and follow-through.
  • Work with faculty to ensure accessibility of source texts (e.g., via Audible.com, Learning Ally, Kurzweil) and facilitate accessible versions when needed.
  • Facilitate installation, support, and training for students using speech-to-text tools like Read and Write for Google.
  • Facilitate installation, support, and training for students on Google Apps for Education, including Google Docs and Google Classroom.
  • Facilitate assistive technology assessment and implementation.
  • Push into classrooms to observe and support student and faculty technology use.
  • Facilitate installation, support, and training for faculty on Google Classroom.
  • Facilitate installation, support, and training for faculty on Engrade.
  • Facilitate and manage peripheral technology (interactive whiteboards, scanners, cameras, projection appliances) for classroom use.
  • Facilitate installation, support, and training for faculty on content creation tools integrable with interactive whiteboards.
  • Assist with general technology literacy, vetting resources, and providing documentation and self-help materials.
  • Maintain documentation and resources for the community.
  • Collect student work and create initiatives for content on the online student publication, Lightpost.
  • Collaborate with Technology Operations and other Ed-Tech coordinators on school-wide technology initiatives.
  • Engage in professional development to introduce new technologies and methods.
  • Execute and advance MMFS's commitment to AI and technology literacy within the division.
  • Partner with Educational Technology colleagues across divisions to ensure consistency in AI and technology literacy expectations.
  • Serve on the MMFS AI Council as the educational technology voice for division faculty.
  • Understand and participate in all school-wide diversity and equity initiatives.
  • Examine administrative practice through the lens of race, identity, equity, and privilege.
  • Support a school culture that welcomes all social identities.

Requirements

  • MA in a technology education-based field.
  • Special education experience is a plus.
  • A passion for technology, education, and emerging trends.
  • 3-5 years of direct teaching experience.
  • Independent or charter school experience is a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with parents, children, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to equity and justice, including knowledge and skills related to cultural competencies.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice.
  • Familiarity with new technologies.
  • GSuite and Veracross experience is a plus.
  • Experience teaching or coaching robotics, including competitive robotics programs.
  • Experience teaching or coaching computer science topics.
  • Ability to maintain the physical capacity required to navigate the school environment and ensure student safety.
  • Ability to open filing cabinets and bend or stand for long periods.
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs (one to five flights).
