About the Role
As the Yard Supervisor, you are a dynamic leader with strong communication, organizational, and motivational skills. You oversee all yard activities, including managing yard employees, equipment, vehicles, deliveries, and housekeeping. Your role is pivotal in creating a safe and customer-centric environment, ensuring the well-being of our employees, customers, and vendors.
Responsibilities
- Provide strong leadership to cultivate a workplace culture where employees feel valued, competent, and motivated.
- Foster unity and collaboration among team members towards achieving common goals.
- Lead, mentor, and coordinate the work of all yard associates and delivery drivers.
- Work collaboratively with Central Dispatch for daily customer deliveries and inventory receiving.
- Arrange training for yard personnel and drivers on equipment and vehicles, ensuring all necessary certifications are completed and documented.
- Receive, sort, and stock incoming inventory, verifying quantities and condition.
- Maintain adequate inventories of yard products and report shortages to the Store Manager.
- Ensure safe handling of all vehicles and equipment, including loading and unloading.
- Keep maintenance records for all equipment and vehicles, coordinating maintenance scheduling.
- Maintain proper yard organization and cleanliness as per company standards.
- Supervise yard inventory counts and ensure accuracy.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service in accordance with company standards.
- Collaborate with inside and outside sales teams to meet customer needs.
- Assist with hiring, training, and orientation of new associates.
- Evaluate performance of yard personnel and drivers, providing feedback and support as needed.
- Ensure all paperwork is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
- Uphold company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities provided by the company.
- Stay informed about existing and new products and services supplied by the company and competitors.
- Hold yourself accountable to the values of Moffatt and Powell, addressing any discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
- Monitor and enforce yard security measures to protect company assets.
- Assist with the return-to-work process as needed.
