About the Role

The part-time Oral Hygiene Technologist supports faculty teams within the laboratory and clinic environments, playing an integral role in the operations of the Oral Health Clinic. This position involves duties related to dental clinic operations and educational needs to support the success of students and clinics.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees space and equipment
  • Ensures student safety in the proper use of equipment
  • Maintains health and safety in Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC), medical reprocessing, and dental radiography
  • Applies critical thinking, judgment, and technical expertise to perform complex tasks and solve problems in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Adheres to and implement PHIPA and college-wide privacy policies
  • Reports and troubleshoot breaches in IPAC and PHIPA

Requirements

  • Certified Dental Assistant in good standing with the Ontario Dental Assistants Association
  • HARP Certified
  • Minimum 2-years' working experience as a Certified Dental Assistant
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, and attention to detail
  • A strong commitment to student engagement and success
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Excellent communication and effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to relate effectively to a wide variety of people from different backgrounds
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience working with students in a professional learning environment would be considered an asset
