About the Role

Join the emergency residential shelter team at My Sisters’ Place (MSP) as a leader dedicated to addressing the complex safety and case management needs of survivors of domestic violence (DV) and human trafficking (HT). This role focuses on trauma-informed counseling, leadership, interdisciplinary collaboration, crisis intervention, and safety planning.

Responsibilities

• Provide private individual counseling sessions to adult and child residents.
• Conduct weekly support groups utilizing trauma-informed practices in conjunction with the shelter team.
• Assess day-to-day needs, safety plan, counsel, and provide crisis intervention to clients.
• Provide leading guidance on assessment and case planning for all adult and child resident clinical/therapeutic needs.
• Support clinical issues affecting shelter residents by working closely with the Senior Director of Residential and Transitional Services, Associate Director of Transitional Services, Senior Residential Advocates, and Residential Advocates.
• Answer MSP’s 24/7 hotline, providing crisis response, information, resources, and assessing eligibility for MSP services.
• Participate in a shared on-call supervisory rotation for overnights and weekends, potentially requiring in-shelter coverage.
• Attend shelter leadership team meetings and regular shelter staff meetings.
• Adjust work hours or work additional hours as needed to meet with residents, conduct support groups, or attend meetings.
• Collaborate with agency staff responsible for shelter operations to ensure client and facility needs are met.
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations and public agencies to foster service coordination for emergency shelter residents and their children.
• Represent MSP and the shelter program at relevant outside meetings and events.
• Ensure timely and accurate collection of statistics on services provided and complete monthly/quarterly reports.
• Maintain thorough and up-to-date client records in accordance with agency file requirements.
• Participate in monthly network meetings relevant to DV survivors and resources.
• Maintain strong connections with all other MSP program areas, including the Family Services unit and Center for Legal Services.
• Gather and analyze statistics to monitor program effectiveness and draft monthly/quarterly activity reports to funders.
• Represent MSP at community meetings and coalitions and engage in outreach to establish and strengthen partnerships.
• Participate in MSP trainings, committees, and interdepartmental meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Licensure in social work, psychology, mental health counseling, or similar field is a plus.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practices.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and on a team.
• Technology proficiencies including using Excel, Apricot, and other web-based platforms.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to assess priorities, take initiative, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
• Passionate commitment to principles of anti-oppression.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation.
• Demonstration of strong leadership skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Computer skill proficiency.
• Bilingual English/Spanish required.

• All residential services staff work in MSP’s Emergency Shelter, a confidential site in Westchester County, NY.
