About the Role

The Supply Planner is responsible for developing monthly Rolling Forecast and Annual Budget Supply Plans for their Segment(s) to identify crewing and equipment needs over the next 3-36 months to satisfy demand plans and expected growth.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor press performance criteria including reported v crewed hours, downtime, make ready minutes, run speed per minute, and job size.
  • Ensure segment demand mix is correctly interpreted in segment rough cut capacity models.
  • Work with inventory planning to maximize job size while minimizing print risk.
  • Collaborate with demand planning to minimize 3-month forecast bias for level loading labor.
  • Work with operations to plan and maintain least cost crewing levels using level loading principles.
  • Partner with GRE to plan key resources for onboarding new business, executing plant/press remix projects, imposition automation, and sustaining business projects.
  • Work with the Sales team to build a Demand Driven planning process for growth, new business, and base business.
  • Align execution plans with stakeholders including VP of Operations, Plant General Managers, Sales, and Customer Service.
  • Expedite and adjust schedules to meet emergencies caused by downtime, increased production demand, or shortages.
  • Respond to changes from the Master Supply plan by proactively seeking misalignment and reactively managing through exception reports.
  • Ensure inventory is manufactured and distributed in support of the Supply Plan.
  • Coordinate production from Company plants and/or procurement of finished goods or outsourcing services.
  • Participate in Service Performance and MDI meetings to monitor metrics and initiate problem-solving.
  • Coordinate with Plants and Engineering to maintain service performance during capital projects and plant shutdowns.
  • Problem-solve increased costs of failures by researching root cause and driving improvement.
  • Represent supply chain interests in cross-functional project teams to implement business process changes.
  • Mentor and train team members on systems and processes.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and drive for results.
  • Monitor industry trends, best practices, and regulatory issues.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in manufacturing planning systems including inventory management, planning, and/or distribution, or a minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Firm understanding of the parameters and calculations that drive rough cut capacity plans.
  • Must be able to deal with problems involving a few variables and understand when to involve a manager.
  • Excellent written and verbal two-way communication skills.
  • Able to process substantial amounts of data, influence others, drive cross-functional alignment, and communicate at various levels.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced team environment, manage personal schedules, and exhibit flexibility to support multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and other MS Office tools is essential.
  • Occasional travel required to Plants, Customers and/or partner locations (10%).
  • The physical demands require standing, using hands to finger, feel and touch; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear.
  • This position requires frequent walking.
  • Occasionally employee is required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Must be able to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements are close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
