About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to help build and scale our foundational platforms. This role will be based out of Toronto or Vancouver and embraces a hybrid working model. It is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about engineering fundamentals and operational excellence in a complex problem space. No prior experience in health tech is required.

Responsibilities

  • Be NexHealth's first engineer based in Canada — setting the technical and cultural tone for what will become a larger team as we expand our footprint north of the border
  • Hire and develop world-class engineers to build a high-performing team
  • Support engineers in their career growth through mentorship, feedback, and leadership development
  • Ensure high technical standards through sound processes (e.g., architecture reviews, testing) and a strong engineering culture
  • Partner with engineering and product leadership to define and execute long-term platform roadmaps
  • Coordinate execution and collaborate across teams to deliver cross-cutting, high-impact initiatives

Requirements

  • Proven track record (6+ years) leading high-performing engineering teams that thrive on innovation
  • 8+ years of total industry experience in software engineering
  • Exceptional people leadership skills with experience coaching engineers
  • Deep experience delivering large-scale foundational infrastructure
  • Strong judgment balancing engineering velocity with long-term technical quality
  • Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively across Product, Sales, and Customer Success
  • Demonstrated ability to define and drive technical and organizational roadmaps
  • A builder mindset with a history of scaling teams and systems in fast-paced environments
  • Strong ownership and initiative in ambiguous, evolving contexts
  • Bias for action and data-driven decision making
  • First-principles thinking applied to both technical and organizational challenges
  • Deep care for people development and team health
  • Alignment with NexHealth’s core values and mission

About the Company

  • Our healthcare system remains frustratingly analog. When you live in a world of one-tap car rides, instant meal delivery, and unlimited streaming, why do you still have to call to schedule a doctor’s appointment and fill out a clipboard in the waiting room?
  • NexHealth’s mission is to accelerate innovation in healthcare by connecting patients, providers, and developers.
  • We’re building the infrastructure layer for modern healthcare, connecting thousands of fragmented, on-premise, and closed EHR systems into a single, modern platform that powers software, APIs, payments, and patient experiences across the ecosystem.
  • Founded: 2017
  • Headquarters: San Francisco, CA
  • Funding: $177M Series C
