About the Role

STV is seeking a Software Engineering Lead to manage and expand a capable engineering team within the Digital Advisory Products division. This role combines hands-on software delivery, technical leadership, and people management, influencing how software is developed, deployed, and supported across key initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses deep software engineering expertise, proven leadership and mentoring skills, and a history of delivering high-quality software in a fast-paced, consultative setting. This is a visible position with the opportunity to shape product strategy, engineering culture, and delivery standards for STV’s Advisory practice.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee delivery across multiple concurrent software projects, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned to business objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance, architecture input, and problem-solving support to the team.
  • Define and enforce engineering best practices including coding standards, design patterns, documentation, and testing strategies.
  • Establish and lead code review practices that promote quality, consistency, and knowledge sharing.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers.
  • Foster a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Coach team members on technical excellence, career development, and delivery effectiveness.
  • Establish and continuously improve development operations including CI/CD pipelines, release practices, and production support workflows.
  • Partner with Product, Data, Consulting, and Advisory stakeholders to translate business needs into well-defined technical solutions.
  • Balance speed of delivery with long-term maintainability, reliability, and technical debt management.
  • Help define and evolve the team’s agile or hybrid delivery approach.
  • Contribute to the evolution of STV’s Digital Advisory Products, providing input on technical roadmap, tooling, and platform direction.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency, product quality, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Support client-facing engagements as needed by representing engineering perspectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • At least 2–3 years in a technical lead or engineering management role.
  • Strong experience delivering production software using modern architectures, frameworks, and development practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams while staying technically credible and hands-on.
  • Experience overseeing delivery across multiple projects or products simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in a consulting, advisory, or product-focused environment.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, modern DevOps practices, and scalable system design.
  • Experience working within agile or hybrid delivery models.
  • Background supporting products or platforms used across multiple clients or internal teams.
  • Prior experience helping establish or mature an engineering function.

Experience Level

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • 2-3 years in a technical lead or engineering management role

Education Level

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Salary/Compensations

  • $187,747.98 - $214,569.12
