About the Role
Level Nine is seeking an experienced and driven finance professional to build a robust and scalable organization. This mission-critical role will finance the company's growth strategically, complementing the world-class innovation of the science team.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily financial operations including accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, invoice tracking, and payment execution.
- Master cash flow and budgeting to maintain lean and smart operations.
- Automate daily operations using AI agents, smart software layers, and custom workflows.
- Maintain clean documentation for ongoing legal and fiscal compliance.
- Own vendor relationships and purchasing processes, identifying business risks.
- Manage the company's overall capital and risk portfolio.
- Build and maintain complex financial models and run scenario planning for scaling.
- Evaluate equity and debt options, structure joint development agreements, and support techno-economic analyses.
- Partner with commercial and business development teams to evaluate commercial deals.
- Handle financial reporting for the CEO and investors, telling the strategic story behind the numbers.
- Coordinate fundraising logistics, ensuring data room readiness and managing due diligence.
- Prepare financial materials and reports for investor discussions.
- Play an active role in securing non-dilutive funding through grant writing, modeling, and compliance reporting.
Requirements
- 5-10 years of relevant working experience, preferably in operational finance within a startup.
- Experience in a deep tech or hard tech company is a significant advantage.
- Strong foundational understanding of corporate finance.
- Keen interest or exposure to blended finance / project finance structures.
- Elite proficiency in Excel.
- Excitement about leveraging AI tools, APIs, and workflow integrations to eliminate manual tasks.
- Strong grasp of corporate law and compliance frameworks, including contract review and risk identification.
- High agency and a problem-solving mindset for complex, ambiguous challenges.
- C1 German language proficiency for local authorities and legal documents.
- Fluent English communication skills, comfortable representing the company to stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and a can-do attitude.
- Belief that finance can unlock strategic value beyond compliance.
