About the Role

The Technical Instructor III role will start in the Level 1 brain injury service and has scope to be a rotational post giving the employee the opportunity to work across our long term care, brain injury and specialist services, providing excellent clinical support for patients with a range of neurological disabilities including cognitive, sensory and/or physical impairments, which impact on their day to day lives. The post holder will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), implementing all aspects of patients’ person-centred care plan, including therapy led treatment plans, MDT rehabilitation activities, support with patient personal care (where appropriate) and implementing the patients’ behaviour support plan.

Responsibilities

Be a full member of the therapy team, maintaining a delegated clinical case load, carrying out assigned treatment programmes and discussing outcomes under guidance of the registered physiotherapists in the designated clinical area.
Report any changes in condition and difficulties implementing treatments and care plan.
Assist the registered physiotherapists in the regular assessment and treatment of their patients on their caseload.
Assist the physiotherapy and wider therapy team with administrative tasks as required e.g. gym health and safety, guideline development, audit, stock management, stats, computer related tasks.
Keep legible, accurate notes, recording activities and noting progress or changes in the patient’s capabilities.
Monitor the departmental equipment, reporting back any problems to the senior therapist or relevant MDT members in a timely fashion.

Requirements

Must have the Right to Work in the UK; sponsorship is not provided.
Considerable (minimum of 3 years) relevant experience related to the treatment of adults with acquired brain injury, alongside physiotherapists.
Experience of working in a clinical multidisciplinary healthcare team, demonstrating collaborative communication, willingness to complete delegated activities and positively contribute to team work.
A degree of physical fitness relevant to the physical rehabilitation of adults with acquired brain injuries.
Be able to understand the professional boundaries of the post and understand the need to work within your scope of practice.
Demonstrate willingness to be an active participant in continuing professional development, service development and training opportunities to enhance individual and service performance.
Evidence of experience of working with wheelchairs and seating systems.
Experience of postural management programmes including bed positioning.

Skills

Physiotherapy treatment of patients with acquired brain injury and complex long term needs.
Excellent clinical support for patients with a range of neurological disabilities including cognitive, sensory and/or physical impairments.
Implementing all aspects of patients’ person-centred care plan.
Implementing therapy led treatment plans.
Implementing MDT rehabilitation activities.

Computer literacy- with knowledge of use of Microsoft office systems.

£28,939 - £30,688 per annum
