About the Role
The After School Youth Program Food Service Assistant will prepare lunch and other food for club members in a customer service-oriented manner, organize equipment and workstations, and follow all health and safety regulations. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe and welcoming dining environment for program participants.
Responsibilities
- Practice personal hygiene and proper sanitation procedures.
- Turn on, test and monitor equipment at the beginning of the day.
- Food preparation according to written and oral instructions.
- Serve lunch, dinner and a la carte items.
- Monitor food and equipment temperatures at all times.
- Exhibit courtesy and understanding to club members.
- Demonstrate proper equipment operation skills.
- Set up and break down of serving areas.
- Receive, stock, and rotate incoming and outgoing inventory.
- Participate in formal and informal training.
- Demonstrate knowledge of sanitation practices.
- Exhibit the professional behavior of a reliable employee.
- Perform preparation duties for the next day.
- Maintain a neat, clean and safe work environment.
- Participate in special events for club members and community.
- Oversee daily club member cafeteria sign-in and handwashing practices.
- Perform dishwashing duties of cooking, serving and eating utensils tools.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- General knowledge of the use or care of food preparation equipment.
- Ability to promote healthy eating in a creative manner.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and club members.
