About the Role
Provides clinical and clerical support to ensure smooth daily operations in an assigned medical practice. Prepares patients and examination areas for appointments.
Responsibilities
- Greets and escorts patients, ensuring proper identification.
- Performs clinical intake activities and documents patient information.
- Transcribes and updates patient information in the patient record, including demographic, medication, social, and medical history.
- Provides clerical and secretarial support for patient care.
- Prepares and organizes patient charts for providers.
- Assists with paperwork, such as disability forms, and scans patient information.
- Performs and stays current with EMR Orders Reconciliation.
- Ensures examination areas are clean and stocked after each patient use.
- Performs environmental rounds on a weekly/monthly basis.
- Prepares patients for scheduled visits to maintain timely patient flow.
- Assists patients with gowns, clinical paperwork, supplies, and educational materials.
- Conducts in-office testing as directed by the clinician.
- Coordinates testing and outside ancillary services.
- Reviews instructions for upcoming procedures and tests.
- Collects, prepares, and processes specimens.
- Logs specimen results and reconciles them in the patient's record.
- Contacts patients to provide follow-up, advise on test results, or relay clinician instructions.
- Maintains inventory and ensures proper upkeep, cleaning, and testing of medical equipment and supplies.
- Fills out appropriate logs.
- Communicates and documents electronic messages effectively.
- Assists in the training of new staff.
- Demonstrates and maintains practice-based competencies for in-office clinical procedures.
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities.
- Maintains and models organizational values.
- Demonstrates regular, dependable, and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as required within the scope of practice.
Requirements
- One year of experience required.
- BLS Certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Basic medical knowledge and terminology.
- Data entry required.
- Skilled in obtaining accurate patient vital signs.
- Ability to travel between practices as needed.
