About the Role
The Facilities Assistant supports the upkeep, safety, and appearance of all agency properties by handling year-round grounds maintenance, including lawn care, landscaping, snow removal, and general exterior upkeep. This role also assists with painting, surface preparation, wall covering repairs, and various maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate ensures equipment is used safely and maintained properly, follows agency standards for quality and safety, and completes assignments independently while modeling professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all lawn maintenance, snow removal and grounds upkeep at all agency sites, maintaining the standards set forth by the agency.
- Determines materials, equipment and tools necessary to perform job.
- Assists the Facilities Specialist with general maintenance tasks/projects, as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma preferred and at least one (1) years experience in painting/landscaping maintenance or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience accepted (i.e. BOCES or vocational/trade school).
- Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
- Must have a valid NYS Driver's license.
