About the Role

Trainline Business is seeking a Strategic Business Development Manager to accelerate commercial growth by identifying new opportunities, expanding the customer base, and shaping go-to-market strategies. This role involves driving new business acquisition in mid-market and enterprise organizations, building senior stakeholder relationships, and collaborating with internal teams to enhance customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Drive sustainable revenue growth by developing and executing strategic business development plans aligned to commercial objectives and pipeline targets.
  • Identify, engage, and convert new business opportunities across mid-market and enterprise organizations through targeted prospecting, account planning, and relationship building.
  • Build, manage, and progress a high-quality pipeline of opportunities, applying strong commercial judgment and maintaining momentum throughout the sales cycle.
  • Explore new market segments, customer needs, and growth opportunities, including strategic partnerships.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Customer Success teams to develop compelling customer propositions and ensure a smooth transition from acquisition to onboarding.
  • Contribute commercial insight, market intelligence, and strategic recommendations to shape Trainline Business's growth and market expansion approach.
  • Support the development of scalable commercial processes, frameworks, and playbooks.
  • Represent Trainline Business externally, building trusted relationships with senior decision-makers.

Requirements

  • Strong track record of delivering new business growth within a B2B sales, business development, or commercial role, ideally in SaaS, technology, travel, or mobility.
  • Experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders, with the ability to build credibility, trust, and long-term commercial relationships.
  • Strong commercial acumen and a history of achieving ambitious revenue, pipeline, or growth objectives through a strategic and data-informed approach.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience managing opportunities through a structured sales process, supported by effective use of CRM and pipeline management tools (Salesforce experience is helpful).
  • Ability to identify emerging opportunities, translate market insights into action, and balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
  • Proactive, resilient, and self-motivated approach, with the confidence to operate effectively in a fast-paced and evolving business environment.
  • Collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for building new capabilities and improving ways of working.
