About the Role
BBB Heart of Texas is seeking a well-rounded, experienced Accounting Manager who thrives in a collaborative, hands-on environment. Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all financial operations, including payroll month-end close activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion.
- Monitor and analyze financial data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Supervise the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) teams, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions.
- Provide guidance and support to AP and AR teams while implementing effective internal controls and process improvements.
- Drive the establishment and management of key performance indicators (KPIs), regularly reviewing financial performance against organizational goals.
- Conduct root cause analysis of discrepancies or inefficiencies in financial processes and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial strategies align with the organization’s broader goals.
- Provide financial insights and reporting that support decision-making.
- Contribute to audit preparation, financial statement review, and other key financial management tasks.
- Ensure continuous development of financial processes to improve overall organizational effectiveness.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to the AP and AR teams, fostering an environment of growth and efficiency.
- Actively participate in management meetings to provide financial insights and contribute to decision-making processes.
- Perform other duties as required by the Director of Finance.
Requirements
- 4-year college degree or equivalent in a business-related accounting & finance field
- 4+ years of accounting/finance experience
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
- Experience with financial software and accounting platforms
- Not-for-profit accounting and leadership experience preferred
- Familiarity with Sage Intacct preferred
- Familiarity with GAAP, accrual, and cash basis of accounting preferred
Skills
- Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles, practices, and regulations
- Experience with payroll management, month-end close, reconciliations, and internal controls
- Advanced analytical skills with a focus on data trending and root cause analysis
