About the Role

An academic sessional makes a substantial contribution to the teaching program, particularly at the undergraduate level. The position requires preparation and coordination of tutorials and workshops, consultation with students, assessment marking and attendance at meetings as required by the Course Coordinator/Program Coordinator. The primary purpose of an academic sessional is to successfully run and manage their assigned tutorials or workshops within the discipline area. The School seeks expressions of interest from experienced Academics or Clinicians who have a passion for teaching. Teaching opportunities are available on a sessional basis in the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy Program.

Responsibilities

Conduct lectures/theoretical tutorials and/or workshops in consultation with the Discipline Lead, including preparing a brief lesson plan and facilitating informed group discussions.
Consult with students regarding readings, weekly topics, and assessment.
Mark assessments and provide feedback as directed by the Course Coordinator/Program Coordinator.
Attend meetings as required by the Course Coordinator/Program Coordinator.
Manage short-term extension requests in line with University policy.
Undertake other duties as identified by the line manager or the National Deputy Head of School.
Comply with policies and procedures in all aspects of work and conduct.

Requirements

Subject matter expertise in one or more of the following occupational therapy practice areas: Rural, remote or international health and well-being; Human pathophysiology or clinical medicine; Paediatrics/school system; Inpatient or Community Rehabilitation (aged care/disability/physical and cognitive).
Current and valid work rights in Australia.
Ability to complete a self-declaration regarding Gender-Based Violence.
