About the Role

Support the regional team in delivering a wide range of consulting mandates across the energy transition, oil, and mining value chains. The position requires the ability to problem solve and apply/develop industry knowledge to a broad range of strategic consulting projects and client situations.

Responsibilities

  • Support consulting teams on a range of consulting projects, particularly through operation of sophisticated internal models and creating/developing new analyses.
  • Contribute towards the content and format of consulting presentations and reports.
  • Extract data from internal and external sources such as databases, websites, and Wood Mackenzie products.
  • Demonstrate high standards of professionalism and attention to detail to ensure the highest quality analysis is delivered.
  • Proactively take ownership of project workstreams with the ability to defend work to clients and consulting team peers.
  • Actively participate in brainstorming sessions, offer solutions to problems, and challenge the status quo.
  • Suggest alternatives and think creatively.
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills, both internally and externally.
  • Establish good working relationships with colleagues across the business.
  • Keep client and internal teams informed of progress constantly.
  • Present clearly and concisely to clients and colleagues.
  • Plan and prioritize own workload to ensure project objectives and targets are met.
  • Demonstrate proven effective cross-team working skills and mindset, working openly and trusting across consulting, research, and sales teams.
  • Adopt a flexible approach towards work.
  • Support wider consulting practice development by working with colleagues to understand new offerings for clients.
  • Provide inputs to the development of consulting best practice, offerings, and strategy.

Requirements

  • Passion for delivering quality service to clients and thriving in a collaborative, commercial, and client-centric environment.
  • Desire to grow capabilities and enjoy working as part of a project team to deepen industry knowledge and consulting skills.
  • Understanding of the energy sector, industry dynamics, commercial operations, business models, and strategies is beneficial.
  • Good analytical skills; comfortable with data and modeling.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Competent in using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to run analysis and communicate messages.
  • Effective communication skills; ability to deliver messages and explain complex or technical information coherently, authoritatively, and engagingly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well on a project team.
  • Curious and commercial mindset; keen to learn and understand from a client's point of view.
  • Ability to work autonomously, deliver to a deadline, and adapt to changes.
  • Ideally, experience in a consulting environment in the energy sector, possibly with experience in valuation, corporate strategy, market entry strategy, and financial modeling.
  • Knowledge of Mandarin and/or other Asian languages is advantageous.
