About the Role

Wisr is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Financial Assistance Officer to join their Financial Assistance team. This role serves as the primary point of contact for Wisr customers requiring support, focusing on developing tailored and sustainable solutions to help them regain financial stability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of customers in arrears via inbound/outbound calling and emails.
  • Ensure collections activities comply with NCCP, Privacy Act, debt collections guidelines, credit reporting framework, and internal policies.
  • Communicate effectively and build rapport with customers to assist them in getting their loans back on track.
  • Support customers with loan payouts, account detail amendments, and payment arrangement setups.
  • Liaise with external partners or third parties to support Wisr customers.
  • Set up and manage payment arrangements.
  • Assess hardship applications and manage existing hardship loans.
  • Coordinate the issuance of default and legal notices.
  • Perform ad hoc activities as required.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in a collections or hardship role, preferably in consumer lending.
  • Working knowledge of hardship obligations, responsible lending principles, and regulatory frameworks governing collections (NCCP Act, Australian Privacy Principles, Debt Collections guidelines, Credit Reporting framework).
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining customer focus.
  • Proven track record of providing superior customer service in a fast-paced environment, handling high volumes of calls.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate appropriately with people of all levels.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management skills, and ability to multi-task.
  • Genuine interest in finding solutions for customers.
  • Strong dispute-handling and resolution skills.
  • Excellent negotiating skills.
  • Tech savvy, inquisitive, and able to quickly learn new programs and processes.
