About the Role

Design, build, deploy, and operate AI-powered automations and agentic workflows for the Roaming Excellence team's highest-pain workflows. Identify AI-solvable problems, translate business pain into clear AI use cases, and push back when AI is not the right solution. Instrument all AI solutions with evaluations, observability, cost tracking, and human-oversight mechanisms. Contribute reusable artifacts to AITT for broader DCS reuse. Enable the Roaming Excellence and adjacent Supplier Integration teams through workshops, demos, and pairing sessions. Collaborate with engineers and TPOs in other domains and Architecture on platform integration.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, building, deploying, and operating AI-powered automations and agentic workflows for the Roaming Excellence team's highest-pain workflows
  • Integrating into the existing Azure platform (AKS, event-driven architecture, API-first)
  • Identifying which problems are AI-solvable and which are not
  • Translating business pain into clear AI use cases with defined objectives, expected value, and measurable success criteria
  • Pushing back on use cases where AI is not the right answer
  • Instrumenting every AI solution with evaluations for output quality, observability for runtime behaviour, cost tracking, and explicit human-oversight mechanisms
  • Documenting risks and guardrails in line with DCS's responsible-AI expectations
  • Contributing reusable artifacts (patterns, prompts, eval frameworks, reference implementations, MCP integrations) to AITT for broader DCS reuse
  • Running enablement inside the home team and for adjacent colleagues in Supplier Integration
  • Working with engineers and TPOs in other domains when their work touches yours
  • Working with Architecture on platform integration concerns
  • Representing the AI Engineer practitioner perspective in cross-domain forums when needed

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on software engineering background with experience building production-grade applications, automations, or internal tools
  • Practical experience with AI / LLM-based applications: workflow automation, agents, copilots, retrieval-based solutions, or related internal productivity tools
  • Ability to move from idea to working solution quickly and pragmatically, while balancing speed, maintainability, and business value
  • Experience integrating APIs, tools, and enterprise systems into cohesive workflows
  • Experience defining tests, evaluations, or quality criteria for software or AI-enabled solutions
  • Solid command of software development workflows: Git, CI/CD, issue tracking, code review, and test automation
  • Awareness of enterprise concerns: security, data handling, access control, and responsible AI usage
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams
  • Willingness to act as an internal multiplier — coaching colleagues and contributing reusable patterns, not only delivering individually
