About the Role
This is a high-impact, high-ownership role where you'll lead a team of engineers working on some of the hardest problems in AI—helping shape how AI agents are built, orchestrated, and operated in production on our platform. You'll partner closely with our Head of Engineering, Founders and cross-functional leaders, while staying close enough to the technical work to guide execution, raise the bar, and unblock your team. Your mission is to build a high-performing engineering team, drive strong technical outcomes, and help deliver ambitious roadmap goals in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of 6 to 8 engineers, supporting performance, coaching, and day-to-day execution in a high-trust environment.
- Shape a culture of truth-seeking, ownership, and continuous improvement across your team.
- Contribute meaningful hands-on technical leadership through design reviews, technical planning, code review, bug fixing, and selected feature development.
- Help your team solve ambiguous, high-leverage technical problems in AI systems and product infrastructure.
- Create clarity in fast-moving situations by driving strong execution, thoughtful trade-offs, and high engineering standards.
- Handle tough conversations with empathy and conviction, including feedback, alignment challenges, and expectation setting.
- Hire bar-raising candidates by partnering closely with Talent Acquisition to execute hiring plans and close strong engineers.
- Partner with Product, Design, and GTM as an equal.
- Bring options, not problems, to the executive team.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager, with a track record of leading engineering teams of comparable scope in problem-dense environments.
- Strong technical credibility with the ability to stay meaningfully hands-on and guide architecture, implementation quality, and execution.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with product or company leadership on roadmap direction, prioritisation, and delivery.
- High AI fluency in your day-to-day workflow; you actively use AI agents to plan, build, and review technical work.
- Strong judgment in ambiguous environments, including the ability to push back when needed and make pragmatic decisions.
- Prior exposure to AI/ML domains or experience working on SaaS platforms, infrastructure, or product engineering problems is highly valued.
