About the Role
The Business Operations Manager / Senior Manager plays a significant role in building the functions to unlock growth and help the Company scale. Working directly with Whatnot's leadership team, this role will work cross-functionally to lead large, critical initiatives and solve complicated, unstructured problems. This role is a terrific introduction to Whatnot, and allows impactful individuals to learn about the business while contributing to a variety of high-impact, critical initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Take Whatnot global: Partner with Product and Engineering to ensure international needs are built into scalable, global solutions, conduct primary research to identify high-impact opportunities across product, pricing, and incentives, and own key metrics including buyer and seller funnels, growth, marketing investments, and margin dynamics.
- Scale our marketing engine: Bring business-side rigor to capital deployment, measurement, and prioritization; deep-dive into complex channel decisions, build nascent capabilities, and ensure the org and hiring roadmap keeps pace with ambitions.
- Build a great business: Partner with StratFin and Data to ensure a healthy, durable business; lead analyses across key margin levers and growth investments, inform pricing decisions, and translate findings into concrete recommendations and actions for leadership.
- Help Whatnot run better: Build tooling to track progress against aggressive goals, highlight key metrics, resource allocation, and blockers, helping teams stay lean and iterate faster.
- Deliver for our users: Pressure-test new products and capabilities, partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations to improve the buyer and seller experience, and own end-to-end resolution of high-impact issues when things go wrong.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or related field
- 5-6+ years experience in consulting, investment banking/private equity, or a fast-growing startup
- Able to move remarkably fast with little structure, guidance
- Curious to learn about different parts of the business and how to pull certain levers to grow faster
- Ability to operate independently and go deep on ambiguous projects
- Demonstrated ability to work and influence cross-functionally
- Proactive, great at communicating with different audiences and can bring stakeholders on-board
- Track record for driving change and impact in a fluid, unstructured working environment
- Fluency in using AI tools to enhance problem-solving, analysis, and execution across a wide range of business challenges
