About the Role
Eucalyptus is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll processing for approximately 220 employees in Australia using Employment Hero (KeyPay). This role involves ensuring compliance with superannuation, PAYG, Payroll Tax, and Workers’ Compensation, maintaining employee records, and supporting global payroll operations. The specialist will also be responsible for process improvement, compliance reviews, and ad hoc payroll projects.
Responsibilities
- End-to-end payroll processing for multiple Australian payrolls in Employment Hero (KeyPay) including STP reports and submissions (approximately 220 people)
- Ensure superannuation, PAYG, Payroll Tax, Workers’ Compensation is lodged in a compliant and timely manner
- Ongoing maintenance of employee records: onboarding, offboarding, internal transfers and contract variations
- Stay up to date with legislative and system updates (we have a membership with APA) and support training
- Handle payroll queries professionally and efficiently
- Support global payroll processing team as required
- Conduct compliance reviews and identify areas for improvement
- Develop, document and streamline payroll processes for Australia
- Support ad hoc payroll projects as required
Requirements
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly in payroll accounting
- Must have experience running end-to-end Australian payroll (4+ years’ experience)
- Excel or Google Sheets skills; experience with payroll software and databases
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Meticulous attention to detail, delivering accurate, high-quality work consistently
- Strong time management, prioritisation, and multitasking skills
- Effective communicator with a commitment to providing excellent customer service
- Proven ability to meet deadlines within a team-oriented environment
- Desire to improve process and enhance experience
