About the Role

The Distribution Administrator joins the Royalty Operations and Services teams to perform research, data entry, and validation activities. This role focuses on maximizing royalty distributions and ensuring the accuracy of SOCAN’s distribution through tasks such as music usage matching, works maintenance, and resolving member queries.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the catalog of musical works and audio-visual cue sheets and related publishing agreements
  • Research musical works, audio-visual cue sheets, and associated shareholders
  • Resolve conflicting claims on musical works or cue sheets by coordinating with Membership
  • Review and update agreements that direct royalty collection
  • Merge potential duplicate works into single payable musical works
  • Match music usage reports from radio, television, and streaming services to the SOCAN catalog
  • Review match results to ensure validity against reported music use
  • Execute matches of musical works or cue sheets to usage reported or claimed by members
  • Resolve domestic and international member queries
  • Research member-submitted queries regarding catalog changes, agreements, and potential missing royalties
  • Provide updates to Membership on investigations for member communication
  • Pursue member-claimed music use with foreign societies

Requirements

  • Computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically MS Excel
  • Excellent research skills
