About the Role

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in Austin, TX. Our engineers collaborate within an integrated team of architects, structural professionals, and sustainability specialists to evaluate and execute building projects. We offer comprehensive electrical engineering services, including load analysis, complex system development, and green building design, covering power generation and distribution, lighting, fire alarms, and security systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the architectural application of electrical engineering, including power systems, lighting design, generator design, and campus electrical infrastructure.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques and procedures, using knowledge of building codes and regulations to create/modify designs and drawings.
  • Participate in design development.
  • Create electrical specification packages.
  • Develop project proposals and client presentations, and attend client meetings.
  • Verify that all design aspects comply with local code and apply code provisions.
  • Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations and document findings.
  • Assist in research related to material qualities, feasibility, and restrictions.
  • Suggest new ideas and processes, stay informed of developments in practice areas, and view obstacles as opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6-10 years of electrical (architectural) design experience, specifically with commercial/retail project design.
  • Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer (PE) in the respective job posting state.
  • Proficient in AGI Lighting Software and REVIT preferred.
  • A passion for power and lighting design, power system studies, and low and medium voltage design.
  • Experience working in CAD.
  • Willing to travel to client location(s), as needed.
  • Ability to research code provisions, products, and material information.
  • Ability to coordinate information exchange between clients, project managers, and project teams.
  • Willingness to mentor new designers and/or interns.
  • Able to be a team player and work independently.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
