About the Role

This is a hands-on, standalone finance role at the heart of a creative agency. You will take full ownership of the day-to-day finance function, including management reporting, cash flow, billing, and compliance, while partnering with the leadership team to support data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate is excited by growth opportunities and a well-reconciled balance sheet, thriving in fast-paced, evolving environments.

  • Prepare financial statements, management accounts, and board packs; work with the fractional CFO to present findings to the Board.
  • Implement and maintain clear job status and profit reconciliations to understand project performance.
  • Monitor cash flow, debtors, budgets, and forecasts to ensure strong financial health and liquidity.
  • Oversee accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations; act as the primary point of contact for client and supplier payment processes.
  • Lead on key client billing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage and file VAT returns on time, and liaise with external accountants, auditors, and the fractional CFO for year-end.
  • Continuously improve financial systems, controls, and processes to support growth.
  • Review and approve job and project estimates; maintain monthly WIP report schedules.
  • Partner with senior leadership and client teams to maintain and accurately track revenue forecasts.
  • Monitor financial performance against market trends, providing insight and context to leadership.
  • Drive efficiencies and identify cost-saving opportunities through rigorous analysis.
  • Identify ways the role can reduce friction and improve agency operations.

Requirements

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • 3+ years' experience in a similar finance role, ideally within a creative, design, or agency environment.
  • Strong financial reporting and analytical skills with the confidence to present findings to senior stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working hands-on in a standalone role.
  • Xero-fluent or comfortable on another cloud-based accounting platform.
