About the Role

We are seeking an Investment Associate to join our Berlin-based investment team. This role is central to identifying exceptional founders early and supporting them in building category-defining companies, involving the entire investment lifecycle from sourcing to portfolio support. It is ideal for individuals who are intellectually curious, enjoy meeting founders, and aspire to become world-class early-stage investors.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively source new investment opportunities through data-driven methods and network.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships within the European founder and investor ecosystem, focusing on the DACH region.
  • Identify emerging sectors and trends, becoming a subject matter expert.
  • Develop informed perspectives on future breakout companies.
  • Support the team through the full due diligence process, including data analysis, market research, reference calls, and writing investment memos.
  • Partner with portfolio companies on their growth, including attending board meetings, advising on challenges, and supporting subsequent funding rounds.
  • Contribute to Cherry's broader platform and culture by testing initiatives, sharing learnings, and actively participating in growing the fund.

Requirements

  • Around 1-2 years in venture capital, or approximately 2-4 years in a relevant role at a tech-driven startup or scale-up (product, sales/growth, engineering, or founder/co-founder).
  • Candidates from top management consulting or backgrounds with some VC exposure are also welcome.
  • Well-connected or actively building connections within the European tech and startup ecosystem, ideally in the DACH region.
  • Comfortable digging into data, financial models, and market dynamics.
  • Genuine passion for technology, startups, and understanding how great companies are built.
  • Ability to articulate complex ideas clearly, both in writing and in conversation.
  • Hands-on, proactive, and energized by the pace and ambiguity of early-stage investing.
