About the Role
The Behavioral Health Specialist provides direct service, staff consultation, training, and support for an afterschool youth development program. Using an anti-racist, trauma-informed, and child-centered model, the clinician delivers mental health services to communities with limited access to support.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual, family, and group therapy for youth ages 6-18
- Perform clinical case management
- Implement treatment goals and interventions
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client activities
- Collaborate with school and mental health providers to identify treatment options
- Consult with the off-site clinical team
- Participate in client review, clinical, and staff meetings
- Engage members through one-on-one activities to build rapport
- Facilitate group life skills and social-emotional programming
- Integrate mental health and behavioral best practices into daily programs
- Promote self-awareness, relationship skills, conflict resolution, and responsible decision-making
- Develop and increase accessibility to socioemotional resources
- Lead case conferencing for paraprofessional staff
- Provide consultation to staff regarding mental health challenges
- Educate staff on program structure and youth mental health
- Assist in developing agency-wide mental health policies and procedures
Requirements
- Master's degree in Social Work, MFT, or Psychology
- Licensed or registered with BOP or BBS
- Minimum 1 year post-graduate experience in individual/family therapy and case management
- Experience working with trauma and diverse communities
- Experience collaborating with schools and community resources
- Current First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
- Ability to work five days per week including afternoon and evening hours
- Pass a criminal background clearance
- Ability to lift 25 lbs
- Ability to stand for at least 2 hours consecutively
- Ability to sit at a computer workstation for long periods
