About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our EMEA Controllership team on a fixed term contract until October 2027. This role will assist with the close accounting processes & deliverables for the Media segment, review and assist the extended media team with day-to-day work, projects, and drive efficiencies. Responsibilities
- Work closely with local, EMEA, US, and Mumbai teams as the key accounting contact.
- Review general work and support team members in the extended Mumbai team.
- Oversee general accounting processes, including revenue accruals, deferred income, and pre-payments for the Media segment.
- Monitor and assist the Mumbai team in resolving aged and incorrectly withheld balances with stakeholders such as Tax, Collections, and Finance.
- Ensure compliance with programming accounting policies for EMEA internally developed content, third-party acquisitions, pre-buys, co-productions, US content, Studio content, contributions, interstitials, development & pilot, and content produced for third parties.
- Ensure quarterly close activities are completed accurately and timely by facilitating issue resolution and assisting wider team members.
- Perform initial review of reporting packages and financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheet flux schedules, and impairments, ensuring timely completion and follow-up on issues and variances.
- Liaise with external auditors on a quarterly basis, including attending audit calls.
- Undertake various projects to drive efficiencies within the team and cross-company.
- Identify and drive areas of improvement within current processes to maintain a high standard of service more efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley & Disney Minimum Control Standards, e.g., journal log.
- Support management and the wider finance team on ad-hoc duties.
Requirements
- A Qualified Senior Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) with a minimum of 3 years’ post-qualified experience.
- Background and knowledge of film & TV programming accounting preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills and SAP experience.
- European language skills are highly coveted.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze information critically and ask questions.
- Adaptability and ability to manage tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
