About the Role

FTSE Russell's Index Sales Team in Japan is seeking a commercial candidate to expand the usage of index-related products, driving both data and asset-based revenues. This role involves relationship and account management with clients like asset owners, asset managers, and brokers.

Responsibilities

  • Drive new sales of FTSE Russell Indexes by identifying new opportunities within current clients or new prospects.
  • Establish and maintain client relationships by engaging with clients on a day-to-day basis.
  • Fully own client accounts, understanding client contracts, key users, and business requirements.
  • Become a trusted specialist on market trends and clients’ requirements, understanding their businesses, problems, and future development goals.
  • Engage with clients and prospects to offer innovative, tailored, or jointly developed Index solutions, utilizing group products and considering industry/market changes.
  • Support regional sales leaders on business development initiatives to generate new revenue.
  • Own revenue targets and sales pipeline, demonstrating proficiency in revenue forecasting and CRM system updates.
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal partners (product development, research, commercial policy, finance, marketing, legal, client services) to service clients on existing or new product development and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Stay informed about the competitor landscape and maintain this information in a structured manner.
  • Understand and articulate the value of services when discussing commercial terms with end clients.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of proven track record in sales / new business development within the financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of the investment management process and ecosystem, both domestically and globally, across multiple asset classes.
  • Knowledge of active and passive index fund strategies as well as use-cases in Japan.
  • Solid networking and existing client relationships.
  • Collaborator who can proactively work with other colleagues.
  • Strong sense of ownership and servicing approach.
  • Value and solutions-based selling experience.
  • Eager to learn and ability to learn faster in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong desire to explore greater personal growth.
  • Business level proficiency in Japanese and English.
